CCHS Indoor Multipurpose Facility Nears Completion

February 10, 2018 – Moultrie, GA

Rush Propst, head coach of Football at Colquitt County High School in Moultrie, Georgia gives a preview of the new indoor multipurpose facility with it’s 100-yard football field that’s nearing completion. The facility will not only be used for practice by the football team, but also by the band, Special Olympics and other sports. It’s likely to host banquets and other events as well.

The facility will enable the football team, band or other teams to practice inside when temperatures outside are unsafe or when rain or lightning keep them from going outdoors. The new High School opened at the intersection of Darbyshire Road and Doc Darbyshire Road back in August 2015, but additions to the facilities physical education, athletics and special education departments have continued.

The Colquitt County High School alone is a state-of-the-art facility with 364,000 square feet and is comprised of six interconnected buildings that surround a 1.5 acre amphitheater courtyard. Administration, classrooms, science and computer labs and drama, band and choir rooms compose the main four story building. The media center, CTAE vocational labs and cafeteria each occupy separate buildings.

The gymnasium has three basketball courts, seating for 2,500 fans, and an adjacent auxiliary gym with a poured rubber floor for Cheerleading and Wrestling. JCI Contractors has provided Construction Management, Design-Build, and General Contracting services for the school’s building projects.
