Colquitt County shook off a sluggish start to defeat Rickards High 31-19 Friday night at the Hawg Pen. After a first half marked by three turnovers and just a 33-yard Josh Scroggins field goal, the Packers trailed 7-3 at the break. But a dominant defensive effort kept them in striking distance, setting the stage for a big second-half surge.

The Packers erupted after halftime, with sophomore Gavin Henderson sparking momentum on special teams and Zach Palmore delivering a 67-yard interception return. Running back Jae Lamar scored three second-half touchdowns, including a 24-yard cutback run and a short burst set up by a 57-yard punt return. By the fourth quarter, Colquitt had built a commanding 31-7 lead before Rickards added two late scores.

With the win, Colquitt (4-1) capped a grueling eight-day stretch with three victories. Head coach Sean Calhoun praised his team’s resilience but admitted the offense must clean up mistakes before next week’s Region 1-6A showdown at undefeated Lowndes.
